Bintang Flores Hotel

The hotel was quiet, well maintained, and felt like an oasis, with its own beach. The restaurant includes a generous daily breakfast in the room rate, and the staff were very helpful. I'm glad I stayed here when my cruise was cancelled. The value is great too. It's a flat 25 min walk into town, worth doing for the local restaurants and cafes. Bring a torch for the walk at night. A taxi is 5-10k rp. Ask the hotel to call one, and be ready for the driver to try to sell you a day trip. Also bring a hanging line for swimsuits, since you can hang them on the ballustrade.

The hotel food was good, and breakfast was tasty, buffet-style on the weekend and a la carte on weekdays. Rooms were clean and comfortable, the staff friendly and helpful, and the nightly rate was good. The large pool was kept clean. The beach gives you a scenic view, though you can't swim in the sea. I'd recommend renting a scooter to explore farther afield.

The main problem for us was smoke from the maintenance crew burning trash on the property a couple of times a week. It spread across the grounds and got into rooms, especially near the pool. Anyone with a respiratory condition should bring this to the managers' attention. The pool itself was pretty good, but the beach wasn't great, and the hotel even warns against swimming because of sharp coral. The hotel was nothing special for us, and it clearly isn't aimed at young families. That's not necessarily bad, just not what suited us. It seemed more for diving enthusiasts.

A peaceful place for a relaxing stay, with good facilities at a really fair price. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the hotel offers activities they organize, including diving. The garden and pool area were beautiful, pleasant, and well maintained, and a lovely spot to watch the sunset. My one suggestion would be to keep the beach cleaner, since there was some rubbish on the sand and in the water.
