Bintan Laguna Resort

There were comfortable places to sit all over Movenpick Resort Bintan, from sofas and armchairs to chaise lounges, day beds, and outdoor seating. The grounds are huge, with plenty of room to unwind. The rooms were spacious, beautifully designed, spotless, and comfortable, and the large pool worked well for families and couples. There's also a small beach nearby where you can swim in the South China Sea. The people made a strong impression. Staff were friendly, attentive, and eager to help, with excellent English. From reception and housekeeping to the restaurant, everyone seemed committed to guest satisfaction. Grace, Edwina, Maulala, and Razi were among the people who made our stay feel so welcoming. The complimentary shuttle to and from the ferry terminal was another thoughtful touch. We enjoyed the signature Chocolate Hour, and Port 19 Café had a broad menu with appealing presentation. Some dishes, though, were dry, a little overcooked, and not as flavourful as we expected. Breakfast was impressive, with a wide mix of local and international choices. The landscaping is still growing in, and some parts of the grounds need more development. The function facilities and spa were under construction during our stay. I enjoy spa treatments on holiday, so not having a fully operating spa made the experience feel a little incomplete. Once the grounds and facilities are finished, the resort could become an even stronger destination on Bintan Island.

The staff were pleasant and helpful from the reservation stage right through our stay. I came across this newly opened hotel and wanted to try it after having a good experience at another Mövenpick property. There's still quite a bit of work going on, and I'm looking forward to seeing what they have planned when the grand opening arrives and all facilities are running. For now, it's more than good enough for a laid-back resort break or a simple 2D1N getaway. I'll definitely come back.

We were sorry to leave after three nights at this beautiful resort, and I'm so glad we made the trip over from Singapore. The location is lovely, and the facilities, food, and staff were as good as anything I've seen in 40 years of travelling around the world. The service from the staff and the quality of the international food were both outstanding, it was hard to choose between them. Huge credit to Mr. Doni, the General Manager, and his team.

The breakfast and dinner had impressive spreads, with plenty of delicious choices, and the birthday surprise was a thoughtful touch that made my celebration more memorable. The team made our soft opening stay feel special, with remarkable attention to detail from reception and housekeeping to dining and the Kids Club. Daryl and Cynthia were especially patient, warm, and accommodating. Their friendly, genuine service made a real difference. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and will definitely return.
