That ferry tour was a real highlight. We got to see the steam engine, the mechanics and different rooms on the ship, and hear about its history and how the hotel began. We spent two nights here, with sweeping ocean views from all around the hotel. Our room was clean and spacious, plenty of room for two, and the staff were attentive and cheerful. The ferry terminal is just a minute away, and the hotel has a chauffeur service. My only small complaint was the bar. The regular water glasses and crushed ice made the drinks dilute quickly. Still, it was a memorable, wholesome stay, and I’d recommend it to anyone looking for somewhere in Bintan.

Getting here meant going through the ferry terminal complex, which made the arrival unusual. The ship is almost as old as the Titanic, yet it’s still clean and well maintained. The staff were friendly and helpful, too. We were lucky enough to meet Mr. Eric, who was very humble and told us firsthand about his journey with the ship. His story was inspiring. A unique stay we’ll remember.

We ate so well here, everything we tried at the hotel was delicious. The cabin was a surprise too, with lots of space and a balcony looking out over a great view. Everyone on the service team was friendly and helpful, and the ship hotel is only a short walk from the ferry terminal. We also met the boss, Eric, who chatted with us and made us feel right at home.

The crew and staff made us feel at home, even though we were far from home. Their kindness stayed with us, and this short vacation left us refreshed, grateful and inspired. Being aboard Doulos The Ship Hotel felt like stepping into history. You can sense the stories of the past alongside the vision that brought the ship to life as a hotel. Hearing about the ship’s journey and learning how the owner’s dream became real left us in awe. Such warm, thoughtful service, with sincere smiles and care in all the little details. Doulos was an amazing experience.

The views are wonderful, and it’s easy to get to. This is a fascinating, very unusual place to stay, unlike any hotel I’ve visited. The ship was fully seaworthy just over 10 years ago and still looks as it did when it was sailing. If you’re curious to see something different, I’d recommend a visit.
