The garden was brown and neglected, and the pool was filthy. Our room was just as bad, and the air conditioning didn't work. We were told the staff had gone home to kampung, leaving one person who seemed completely uninterested. We left within 5-10 minutes and moved to the Beach Huts, which was brilliant and not much more expensive. We lost the money, but didn't mind in the end. We had some confusion when we arrived: I asked the person outside if this was pasih kauh and he insisted it wasn't. We eventually went through the entrance and found that it was the place after all. At first, I thought Pasih Kauh was somewhere else. The photos on booking sites don't look anything like the actual place. This was the worst place I've ever seen. Even cheap stays usually have something going for them, but I couldn't find anything here. I don't leave negative reviews lightly, and I might have been less harsh if there were anything to recommend. It felt like they were happy to collect the non-refundable fee and let people leave straight away rather than try to make a stay work. I've been to Bali and Indonesia many times and never had an experience this terrible. 😕

The gardens looked beautiful, especially at night, and the place was quiet and felt safe. We could leave things on the balconies without anyone interfering. It seemed well suited to families or people who weren't there to party, especially after hearing other travelers' stories about noise at more expensive hotels. The location was handy too, close to the beach and Mushroom Bay. We booked 11 nights as part of a package because we needed a family room. The two bungalows with connecting doors were exactly what we wanted. They looked clean and pleasant when we arrived in the evening, but in daylight the bathroom walls and floors weren't great, even though the toilet and showers were cleanish. Only one bungalow had hot water. If we hadn't had both joined rooms, Bungalow 4 would have meant cold showers the whole time. Breakfast was a letdown, and we went out for food more than half the mornings. There was no key for the safe, and neither bungalow had a fridge. We later found out most bungalows did have one, but nobody offered us one. On day 3 I asked for the bathrooms to be cleaned. It took another two days and several reminders, and even then the cleaning wasn't very good. I didn't have the energy to complain again. Most staff were pleasant, though they spoke little English, which didn't bother us but annoyed some other guests. The owner was another matter. We met him and heard him speak to other guests who were complaining. He was incredibly rude and seemed to care only about money, not reviews. We rented 2 mopeds for 10 days for $1million rupiah total. When we were out on foot, staff used the bikes and the petrol would disappear. Petrol was cheap, so we didn't mind that much, but we would have liked them to tell us instead of finding the bikes gone when we needed them. There's so much potential here, which makes it frustrating to see the place run so badly. I've travelled a lot, from shoestring trips to more luxurious stays, and I went against the reviews and regretted it. There are NO frills here.

We liked the bungalows, especially the open-air bathroom, and the breakfast was nice. Mashroom Beach and other spots are nearby, roughly 15-30 minutes away on foot if you enjoy walking. You can also rent a motorbike, though the island's roads are often in poor condition. There are some good local warung just outside the hotel. We stayed 4 nights, and our room was never cleaned and the towels weren't changed. Better housekeeping would have made the stay more comfortable.

This place looks completely run down now, though it seems it may once have been nice. There was a huge mess behind the entrance counter, a green pool, and garbage on the pavement. The staff were in pajamas, a random guy was asleep in the lobby, and all the lights were off.

We stayed 10 nights and never once had hot water. We asked to change rooms and were told yes each time, but it never happened. I tried to sort it out with the big boss, whose only suggestion was that I take the motorbike and go away until we left. We're really sad about this because we paid the full amount on the first day. This is the first time we've had a problem in Bali. At the other 6 hotels we stayed in, people always found a solution, but not here. We can't recommend this place. You can stay if you want, but don't pay before the end of your stay.
