Taju Guest House

We left at 3pm after waiting for hours, with no reasonable explanation, and I wouldn't recommend this place. Check-in was supposed to be at 1pm, but our room wasn't ready when we arrived then. We messaged the manager, who said it would be ready by 2pm, so we waited. After a couple more messages went unanswered, nobody showed up. We'd lost hours of our vacation waiting. The rooms also don't look like the pictures, and the bathroom was horrible. I gave one star because I couldn't give zero. This is my first negative review of a place because I usually try to be nice and gentle.

Dreambeach, the best beach for relaxing and swimming, is very close. I walked there in about 10 minutes, though renting a scooter and riding over is easy too. The bungalow was clean, the bed really comfortable, and the owners were so nice and helpful. The guesthouse is very new, so everything felt new. I stayed at Taju Guesthouse for five nights at the end of my 18-week trip around SEA, and it was the perfect last stop.

We had a good time, and the price was fair. The garden is open and spacious, and the rooms are large. The location is very good, though the pillows are a little hard. There wasn't anyone to point us to a motorbike rental place or tell us much about the area.

We returned the scooter a day early and left after just one night, moving all our bags to another place because we couldn't stand staying there any longer. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. We arrived to find nobody around. Our names were on a board with a room number, and the keys had been left inside so we could just let ourselves in. We didn't even get a welcome hello, despite having read about welcome drinks. The woman serving breakfast looked at us with a death stare and was downright grumpy. We tried to rent a scooter by WhatsApping the owner. After a long negotiation over an unreasonable price, he said none were available. We spent two hours looking around, then found a bike at the place next to Teju, only to learn that the owner was also the owner of Teju. When we negotiated in person, he and his brothers or friends laughed at us and spoke in Balinese. They eventually agreed to 60k, which apparently is the going rate in Lembongan. It seems the family owns several places on the street, but the service standards are very low. The water in the bathroom tasted like dead fish, so brushing your teeth would leave your mouth worse off. The shower water was salty. The beautiful setting and room are wasted on terrible staff.
