Anema Wellness & Resort Gili Lombok

The staff are what made Hotel Tugu Lombok especially memorable. Ruslan and Faisol are the two names I remember, but all the restaurant and behind-the-scenes staff were wonderful. They greeted us with smiles and used our names, and I felt a level of care and respect I've never connected with at another hotel. The property is gorgeous, with a lovely beach, traditional Indonesian architecture, attractive pools, and artworks throughout. Both bungalows we stayed in, the alon-alon bungalow and the Bhagawad Gita bungalow, were spacious and thoughtfully designed. They provided turndown service every day without us asking, dimming the lights and spraying mosquito repellent in the room. We stayed for four nights, and it was truly a magical holiday. There aren't really words for the experience.

Tugu's art, history, and personality were a big part of its appeal. We come from the Pacific Northwest and are fans of McMenamins, and this place had a similar relaxed, cool feel. The service and amenities still made it a luxurious stay. The staff were warm, welcoming, and quick to respond to our questions and needs. They added special touches throughout our anniversary stay and made it memorable. We tried several special dining options, including the beach BBQ and Babah Peranakan dinner. Both were excellent, and the Babah Peranakan meal was especially interesting as a way to experience Chinese culinary heritage shared by Indonesia and the Philippines. I'd recommend a spa massage, then a lazy day by the beach. The water is calm and great for swimming.

It was a long, exhausting trip from the US, with no sleep and lost luggage, so arriving at Hotel Tugu Lombok felt peaceful. The staff welcomed us with real warmth and grace. The grounds are beautiful, with lovely views, serene beaches, and lush surroundings, but the people are what made it special. Everyone treated us like family. The restaurant team was attentive and kind, the food was amazing, and our room was spacious, comfortable, and full of thoughtful touches. I especially want to thank Ruslan, who went above and beyond when I told him about our missing bags. He took charge of helping us, coordinating with the airline all the way from EWR in the US to LOP, arranging a driver to collect the luggage at the airport, and bringing it personally to our room. He saved us a lot of time and stress. He also helped us organize several excursions and made sure everything went smoothly throughout the stay. Hotel Tugu Lombok felt like an experience of genuine care and hospitality, not just a place to sleep. Everyone made us feel welcome, seen, and at home. We're deeply grateful and will absolutely return.

The New Year’s Eve party was a lot of fun, with the staff and other guests. We also loved the beautiful setting, tasty food, and friendly, helpful service throughout our five nights at Tugu. We’d love to come back someday.
