Villandra Lovina

We suggested this hotel to a friend visiting, and got to look around while they stayed in the villa. The room was large, with a big private pool, and breakfast was nice. We also ate dinner and an afternoon meal at the restaurant out front, a lovely place to watch the sunset. The food tasted good, though service was a little slow, and the staff were friendly. This new hotel looks decent and has the facilities we're after. We'll stay here when we get back from the UK.

The beach is nearby, and the location is great for relaxing or heading out for a morning jog. My room was clean, comfortable, and well cared for, with a lovely view. Staff were helpful and friendly, especially the interns who made check-in feel welcoming and easy. I had a wonderful stay and would recommend it for an enjoyable visit.

The rooms and bathrooms are huge and well equipped, though the AC was a bit unreliable. I found the unusual floor plan awkward for privacy, since big sliding doors open straight onto the bed. The huts sit along a path to the restaurant right on the beach. The restaurant was okay, and dolphin boats leave from its beach.

We only spent one night here, and quite a bit less than 24 hours, so we may not have seen everything the hotel offers. My ratings reflect how it compared with other places on our Indonesia trip, rather than a view that it's a bad hotel. This was an okay stay, but it didn't leave much of an impression, perhaps because we'd been staying at such great hotels. I didn't even take photos. A music event at the hotel started around midnight, which didn't help. The hotel sits by the beach in a quiet, pretty isolated spot on Lovina's outskirts. Being on a main road makes it easy to reach, but less convenient for walking out to local restaurants and other services. The layout is unusual: two rows of rooms face a long shared path, about 200 metres, down to the beach. The restaurant is at the end, and a golf cart can take guests there from reception or rooms near it. Our first-floor room was large and had most of the facilities you'd expect at this standard, though the design felt generic and uninspiring. It smelled odd from the air freshener used with the air conditioning. The tiled floors get dangerously slippery after rain. Staff were courteous, but we didn't have any particularly memorable interactions with them like we did at other hotels.
