Model J Hotel Jakarta Central Park

The hotel was clean and comfortable, and the service was amazing. Jingga at reception was especially welcoming and kind, and the rest of the staff were helpful throughout my stay. There was quite a bit of traffic noise, even at night, because the hotel is near a highway. Still, I had a good stay at Model J.

I’m rewriting this after checking out. It’s a good option if you want a no-frills stay at a very reasonable price. The location would make me think twice, though. Even though Taman Anggrek, Central Park, and Ciputra mall are nearby, the hotel is on the other side of the highway. We walked to Central Park for breakfast every morning. If you know Jakarta, you’ll know walking along the roadside by a city highway isn’t a great experience. At this price, I can’t complain too much, but next time I’d make a note to spend more and stay on the other side. With taxi prices in Jakarta, most people will probably take a short car ride to the malls anyway. The rooms are basic, with clean bedsheets and towels. The hotel is very close to the highway and toll plaza, so if you’re sensitive to noise, it’s best to pick a room farther away. You won’t get an in-room fridge unless you book the executive room or make a special request, and it isn’t free. During my four-night stay, an odd intermittent knocking from the M&E pipes above the ceiling woke me occasionally. Most service requests go through the Betterwood app, since there’s no phone in the room. It was generally responsive, and I used it to ask for extra room amenities. Housekeeping didn’t come on Hari Raya. It was their holiday, so I’m not sure if that’s normal for hotels in Jakarta. My room change request was handled well by the front office team. Their front office manager, Sasa, and the Ops Director were generally apologetic about the inconveniences and hospitable during my stay. They did their best to keep things comfortable while managing a huge influx of guests during Raya, when the hotel was fully booked.

That quick check-in and check-out made a great impression. They use an app called 'Betterwood', and both took under two minutes. The room, view, food, and service were all lovely, and the hotel is close to Central Park. I stayed for two days and would happily come back. Thank you, and God bless technology.

The view at night was amazing, with that classic Jakarta cityscape. The room was clean, the staff were helpful, and the amenities were all there. The stay was generally pleasant, though I was ready to check out after just two nights. Traveling with a baby made the lighting issue especially awkward: there's just one switch for the whole room, bathroom included, so getting up to use the bathroom at night meant turning on the light. There was no mini fridge either, which would've helped a lot. The bathroom had a small leak, but it was still okay. This setup seems better suited to a solo traveler. The lift needs a room key for access, which makes sense for safety, but they only gave us one key at first. I know you can ask for another, though having two from the start would be easier. If one person went downstairs to get a food delivery, the key went with them, leaving the room dark and the AC off.
