Mercure Madiun

The standard room I booked was spacious, clean, comfortable, and nicely laid out. It had a large smart TV with YouTube and other streaming services, two free bottles of water, and free Wi-Fi, though there was no iron in the room. Mercure Madiun is new, having opened in 2025, and sits right in the city center. There’s a bakso restaurant next door that’s a good choice for local food. The lobby feels modern and cozy, with a coffee shop that also serves as a dining space. It’s a well-kept hotel with the international standard and comfort Mercure is known for.

Room service was a real plus. I ordered the Tray Express Beef Barbecue and Grilled Salmon, and both were tasty and well prepared. The staff were friendly and looked after me throughout the stay. I was in a Privilege Luxe Room with a balcony and double bed. It was very comfortable, and I slept deeply for eight hours without waking. A very pleasant stay, with comfort, good food, and warm hospitality.

Breakfast was busy the next morning, but the team managed it well and set aside a separate room for members. There was plenty to choose from, including local Madiun dishes. Thanks to the chefs, and especially to Mrs. Hanna, who helped us a lot and made excellent coffee. She’s a great barista. A few hours before checkout, I spotted an EV charging sign and asked security about it. He responded right away and helped arrange access to the charging area. We spent the last night of 2025 here, and it was the right choice. We arrived late, but the room was ready, so check-in was quick. There was a noticeable durian smell in the corridor at first. Two staff were already dealing with it, and it was completely gone by early morning. The room exceeded what I usually expect from Mercure, with quality materials, a huge smart TV, a comfy sofa, and a roomy balcony. We used an Accor member voucher to upgrade to a Privilege Room, which we really enjoyed. The hotel is large, with what’s likely the city’s biggest convention center, and the architecture and interiors are thoughtfully done. It’s in a smaller city, but the standards are high. I’ve stayed at many Mercure hotels, and this is easily among the best. The pool, gym, and playroom were all good, and I hope they stay well maintained over time. Everyone we dealt with, from security and the front desk to the restaurant staff, was friendly and professional. They also gave us a late checkout until 4 PM, which meant a lot after being up late. Mercure Madiun has become the best hotel in the city for me, and one of the best Mercure stays we’ve had in Indonesia and overseas.

The room was hot when we checked in because the air conditioner hadn’t been switched on. There was also no running water at the washbasin or urinal in the men’s toilet by the pool. The water dispenser in the corridor was empty when we went to refill our bottles, and it didn’t seem to be checked regularly. We had a breakfast arrangement problem, apparently because reception didn’t communicate well with other staff, including the manager. We’d selected an add-on breakfast when booking through the ALL Accor app. Staff contacted us by WhatsApp and room phone to sort it out, and also to tell us about the all-you-can-eat dinner promotion, which disturbed us. They eventually gave us complimentary extra breakfast for one more day to resolve the issue, and were helpful about it. There are good points too: it’s a brand-new building, the room has a smart TV, hot water, fast Wi-Fi, and very good soundproofing. The pool is nice though not large, and there’s a small gym on the third floor. Breakfast had a varied buffet and tasted good. Parking was spacious, and checkout was quick.
