Atria Hotel Magelang

The mountain view from our room was lovely, and Atria Hotel Magelang is in a very central spot. We stayed three nights over the Christmas 2025 period. As someone who has worked in hotels for years, I found the service and hospitality below what I expected, and the stay didn't leave much of an impression. The restaurant staff were the warmest part of the experience. They smiled and greeted us, and the food was enjoyable with an adequate range, though we had hoped for something special on Christmas Day rather than the usual breakfast. The coffee was genuinely good. At the front gate, security didn't ask why we were visiting or offer help with unloading luggage, though they did manage the parking attentively. The Front Desk staff seemed reserved, and sometimes didn't acknowledge us in the lobby. At checkout, they took the key and gave a brief thank you without asking how the stay had been. Parking was awkward, especially downstairs, so we chose the outdoor area. In the room, the elevator noise was noticeable. There were also a few issues: a cracked TV remote, an air conditioner that smelled and didn't cool well, and some cleanliness concerns. Extra amenities had a price list in the room, which was fine since we didn't need anything extra. The hotel could improve its warmth and attentiveness, but I'd still recommend it for a stay in Magelang.

I picked this hotel because it was the most convenient location for where I needed to be, but it didn't live up to what I'd expect from a four-star place. There was dust in the room and dead flies by the window. Breakfast wasn't very good, the chicken was dry, and the restaurant staff didn't seem happy to be there. I had booked a table at Bateeq Lounge the day before, through their website and by WA with their marketing staff, for a full day of meetings with four interviewees. When I arrived, the staff member there (wdd) seemed confused and unhappy to have me, and spoke in a somewhat condescending way. I wasn't just going in for a single coffee during a half-day. I don't want to sound entitled, but I was spending a fair amount and there were no other customers at the time. Even if they were confused about why I was there, they could have treated me like any other customer and been welcoming. There was also an unpleasant sight in the toilet behind the lobby. Not a great weekend.

The staff gave excellent service, and the room was spotless and comfortable. Breakfast had lots of choices, and the location is convenient. The atmosphere made it easy to relax. I had a great stay and would highly recommend this hotel.

The rooms are clean and well looked after, and I had a great stay. Breakfast was delicious, with helpful, attentive restaurant staff. There's also a small cafe out front, open at night until 2am, where the toast is really good. The hotel is close to candi Borobudur, and I'd consider staying here again on a future Magelang visit.
