The breakfast had plenty of choices and tasted good, and the sunrise and sunset views were peaceful and beautiful. The place has real potential, with a colonial character alongside what is otherwise a very good hotel. Still, the quiet, old atmosphere can feel a little spooky. My main problem was the service: staff were rude, seemed not to care, and offered no solutions. I'd have the waiters trained and the hotel cleaned up if I were investing here. Also, the parking lot takes no responsibility for missing belongings or even vehicles, which makes me wonder what the security guard is for.

The apartment was roomy for an affordable rate, and the property was clean with friendly staff. I liked the classic, luxurious design. My stay had a couple of issues: the water heater didn't work, and the guests next door were pretty noisy. It's also a little removed from the city, with the beach the only interesting nearby spot I could find.

There was a water supply problem and the power went out in my room, but when I tried calling the operator, nobody picked up. The welcome was just as bad: two staff members saw me come in and only pointed toward reception. Nobody helped with my bags or showed me to the room. This was the worst hotel experience I've had. If I could, I wouldn't give it even one star.

The breakfast buffet had a good spread, with six Indonesian dishes as well as dessert, fruit, and bread. Staff were friendly, the room was clean, and getting there was easy. I also liked the mix of historic character and modern building and decor. Very good value overall.

For an affordable nightly rate, the room was okay, so I'm not too bothered. Still, it wasn't very clean and a few things were broken, like the wobbly faucet and wardrobe door. The service itself felt pretty standard, which is why I'd rate it three stars.
