If you want to be near the airport and away from Makassar's busy center, Harper Hotel Makassar is a comfortable option. It's calm and peaceful, a good fit for travelers who like a quieter setting. The rooms are comfortable, service is good, and it's a nice place to relax before or after a flight. Convenient without the downtown bustle.

The employees were super sweet and eager to help, but it felt like guests mattered less than the wedding party. We were only there between flights for one night, and a wedding celebration kept booming late into the night. Even from the 5th floor, it felt like being on the second floor of a nightclub. We called the front desk, and the woman said the loud music would stop at 21:00. It didn't, and went on until midnight. At least we travel with earplugs for the early prayer call and the roosters.

Our flight schedule changed, so we needed a room and checked Booking.com, where one was listed at €30. We arrived late without a reservation and went straight to the hotel, but were told only a suite was available for €97. From the lobby we then booked a cheaper room through Booking.com for €39, breakfast included. Afterwards, staff said a cancellation had just made a cheaper room available, which didn't seem very transparent. Then it turned out something had changed in the system and breakfast was no longer included in our booking.

The restaurant was very good, and the room was great too. Friendly service and excellent quality for the price.
