Myko Hotel and Convention Center Makassa

The hotel seems old, but they’re making an effort to do their best, and the service was good. I’ve never stayed at a hotel that served three meals a day, and these were all tasty and varied. Each dish seemed professionally prepared with a lot of care. Highly recommended!

We spent five days here for a family birthday trip to Makassar. My wife’s and son’s birthdays are close together in March, and we had a good stay. One big reason we chose this hotel was its direct access to Panakkukang Mall. We enjoyed spending time there, with its many entertainment and shopping options and great food. The room was comfortable and had a great view. The toilet was clean, and there was a jacuzzi bathtub beside the bathing room, though I forgot to use it. My son loved riding the lift whenever we went out. The arrival lobby, main lobby, and restaurant were clean, with a luxurious look and an attractive design. Parking was smaller than at other hotels. Staff service was pretty good, and the meals had large portions and plenty of choices, with breakfast, lunch, and dinner served. The taste was decent for the price, though the food department could use a little improvement. We might come back someday for the service and atmosphere.

I left very disappointed with the service. I thought this would be the best choice, but during my stay two days ago, I ran into one problem after another. I had booked a premier room with a best-view request, but they gave me a different room type that was worth less than what I’d ordered. I’d also requested a 3 pm late checkout. On checkout day, the receptionist called three times in the morning to ask whether I was extending my stay. I kept explaining that I’d already requested checkout at 3 pm, but they didn’t understand. A staff member eventually messaged me on WhatsApp to explain there would be an extra charge. I understand late checkout can cost extra, and the amount was only Three Hundred rupiah, so the charge itself wasn’t an issue. What bothered me was how unclear the communication was. I felt as if they thought I couldn’t pay, even though my suitcase was still in the room and they could have contacted me. When I checked out, I showed proof of my 300,000 deposit and wanted to confirm that it had been automatically taken as the late checkout fee from the day before. They gave me no receipt or written confirmation that the deposit had been used for the charge. It made me feel like this was a scam. Parking was also extremely difficult. I had to park in a connected building that was very far from the lobby or the hotel’s connection floor. I don’t understand how that setup can be considered normal for guests at a five-star hotel. The floor-cleaning machine was very noisy and disturbed people staying there. I’ve seen floor-cleaning staff at other hotels work around 5 or 6 in the morning, when people are still resting, and this hotel’s floors aren’t even carpeted. Breakfast was far from good, including the western food, and the chef’s staff talked loudly while breakfast was still being served. The staff generally didn’t smile or greet guests. Please pay more attention to staff management.

The hotel gave me everything I needed to spend time indoors. It connects directly to a shopping mall, so I could walk 10,000 steps without going outside, and it includes three free meals a day. That makes it really good value for money. The bedroom felt luxurious, with a very comfortable bed and two pillow sizes. There was a small fridge tucked into a cupboard, a walk-in shower, a separate jacuzzi bathtub, and even a small TV in the bathroom. The air conditioning was the one downside, since it didn’t get cold enough at night. Check-in was quick in an ornately designed lobby, and the front desk surprised me by handing over a toiletry pack. That was a first. This may be the best hotel I’ve stayed in for a very long time.
