The Rinra Makassar

The toiletries were the real letdown. The toothbrush bristles felt like hundreds of pins and made brushing painful. The shower gel barely foamed and didn’t seem to clean well, the shampoo left my hair dry, and the conditioner smelled like burnt rubber. The shaving kit was the only toiletry that worked properly, so I’d bring your own next time. That said, the room itself was cozy and clean, with warm lighting, a nice canal and city view, and even a small desk for studying or work. It was small but comfortable enough to rest in, and the bed was soft. The bathroom was clean too. I liked the fancy, welcoming lobby and how clearly the friendly staff explained things and guided us. The food was exquisite, and our suhoor was amazing. I liked the hotel and might return, with my own toiletries next time! 😂

The breakfast was a big disappointment for what we paid. Food was poorly prepared, many buffet stations were empty, and the coffee machine seemed unhygienic, dispensing murky water instead of proper coffee. The hotel also no longer has a beach view, since the area has been replaced by a housing complex. The Rinra used to have a luxury reputation, but the service has declined a lot.

This was our second stay with family, from 20-23 December 2025, and we had another really pleasant time. Everyone around the lobby was helpful, from the bell boys to reception. Miss Genta deserves a special mention for going out of her way to help me get tickets to Palopo. She’s exceptionally friendly and a real asset to the company.

We had a good stay at the rinra hotel. The staff at restoran lontar dining were so nice, and the restaurant service was excellent.
