The staff turned out to be more professional than I expected, and they seemed honest and did what they could to help. The room walls barely blocked sound, though, so even whispers in the hallway came through. We called reception nearly every night because other guests sometimes smoked and gathered noisily on the stairs until 2 a.m. I skipped breakfast after trying it once gave me an instant headache, even though the food tasted fine. It's reasonably cheap for downtown, but the toilet can be quite dirty depending on the room, so ask to see it first.

I used to make this my favorite affordable hotel when I came home to visit, but that changed last year. For stays longer than one night, they now leave the room uncleaned unless you ask the front office. You also have to request refills of mineral water, tea, coffee and sugar, and a fresh towel. I found lots of ants in the bedroom and a few cockroaches in the corridor. Cleanliness and service both need a lot of work.

In early 2023, I took my wife and child on our first trip to Malang and stayed at DEWANA HOTEL on Jl. ZAINUL ARIFIN - MALANG CITY. It was a very bad experience. The service was unfriendly, and the room floor was so dirty that I borrowed a broom and cleaned it myself. They said they didn't provide room service because guests had lost belongings in the past. The bathroom drain was clogged, and breakfast was poor, so we went elsewhere to eat. When we were checking out, we weren't given time to shower and pray. The receptionist said, "NOT MORE THAN 12.00 TO CHECK OUT." We felt like we were being kicked out. We were very sorry to encounter this attitude from the hotel staff. My review: bad service, bad management, bad personality and bad attitudes. Not a recommended hotel. Very disappointing.

The room is worth the price and works for a quick rest. It's near the Regency office, though the cleanliness could be better.
