Ijen Suites Hotel

I loved the tropical feel around the pool, plus the sauna and jacuzzi. The room was spacious and had mountain views, and breakfast had a top-tier spread. Ijen Suites Malang feels like a peaceful urban oasis right in the heart of the city, with a posh location. A lovely mix of comfort and luxury for a relaxing stay. Recommended! ⭐

The restaurant was okay, but our room had several problems. The bathroom mirror hadn't been cleaned, and the glasses there were still dirty. We only got three towels for two adults and a small child, two large ones and one small one. There weren't many outlets, and the beds were the shortest we'd had. Luckily, neither of us is very tall.

The staff and location were 10/10, and the front desk manager was helpful. But for a hotel that isn't low cost, I expected more care. The room was basic and not very clean. There was hair in the corners and in the shower, and they should be checking for that after cleaning. The shower holder was broken and the door wouldn't close all the way. The hair dryer ran for about 10 seconds, then needed five minutes to cool before it would work again. Breakfast was standard local fare, with low quality. We went early, but the chicken was cold, the drink was really sugary, and the pastry wasn't fresh. I also don't understand why smoking is allowed in the lobby in 2025. Even though the reception is outdoors, we couldn't sit there because of the smoke. People need to be respected. Rating: 6.5-7 out of 10.

The staff were great, and the front office manager was helpful. The pool deserves five stars, while the gym gets three. The room was decent and had a clean linen, good WiFi, and working A/C. It has an older hotel style, though the carpet looks like it should be replaced. Breakfast was okay, with a good range and decent taste. The location is handy for alun alun malang, Ijen boulevard, and the variety of Malang local food cuisines. It borders Ijen nirwana residence, an elite neighborhood in Malang, where you can go for a morning jog. If you're there on a weekend, jogging on Ijen boulevard would be great.
