There are plenty of nearby places to hang out, including cafes and restaurants, from a legendary or viral spicy chicken feet spot to Korean BBQ. It’s about 500 m from a mini market and 1.4 km from Malang Town Square, in a convenient area. I stayed two nights in a room with a European vintage feel, and thought the price was very reasonable. Highly recommended.

The interior looks pretty in photos, and the hotel is across from lots of restaurants and near downtown. Staying there gave me the feeling of being in an old European castle, though it smelled old and felt kind of creepy to me. It was quite good overall.

There are very good restaurants nearby, and even the hotel breakfast is good. The rooms are good, though not the very best. The staff are very friendly, and that’s the main reason I’d recommend the place. They’re some of the coolest staff around.

The building was very dirty, and the front office woman was so disrespectful. After taking a picture of my ID, she threw it back at me. Really rude, or maybe she was malfunctioning, lol?

This is a pretty good homestay on Jalan Jakarta, near Jalan Ijen. The name Jacatra is said to come from a slip-of-the-tongue pronunciation of Jakarta, because the homestay is on Jalan Jakarta. It tends to be fully booked when students graduate from Malang University (Malang State University), since it’s next to the university.
