When we needed to rent motorcycles in Malang, it took us a long search before someone pointed us to Jona's Homestay. They quickly sorted us out with two bikes, helmets, and masks. It seems like one of the best options for tourists renting motorcycles. About 1.5 hours from Malang, we had an accident on the trip. They sent two guys to collect the motorcycles and help us get back to town. They stayed friendly and calm the whole time.
There are mini-marts, a cafe, and nighttime street food stalls close to the homestay. It's on dr. Sutomo street, relatively near the train station, and the area feels cozy and homey. Breakfast is included, and the rates are cheap to moderate. From the size of most rooms, it seems set up for families or groups of more than four. Lots of foreigners stay here while visiting Malang.
The bathroom and toilet were disgusting, and our room was dirty and smelled bad. It didn't have a proper window either. The person at reception insisted on keeping our passport for the whole stay. One of the worst homestays we've ever stayed in.
The place was clean and gave us more than enough for a good rest. The service was very good, and the location is strategic. I got lucky finding this lovely homestay. Backpackers, I'd definitely recommend it. I'll be back!
Malang's a nice, quiet area to stay in. The place is cheap and basic if you're backpacking, while the rooms are big and spacious for travellers with more to spend.
