There are several local restaurants close by, and I especially liked Uma cafe. We stayed two nights and found the room clean and fresh-smelling, with towels, soap, and toothbrushes provided. It was fairly quiet despite being beside a mosque. The service was kind and attentive, so I'd happily recommend the place.

After an eight-hour ride, we arrived at 1 a.m. and were turned away because we weren't Muslim. No one had told us it was “Muslim only.” They cancelled our booking, wouldn't refund us, and didn't help us find somewhere else to stay.

A little far from the city centre, hehehe, but I found it really comfortable. It's a good budget place to stay in Malang if you don't need luxury.

We were able to rest comfortably before carrying on with our journey. The room and bathroom were clean, and there was some noise from outside, though it wasn't too bothersome. Parking in front is limited, but the garage is spacious. I hadn't booked ahead and arrived in Malang on a Saturday night, when most places were full or too expensive. Millennial Guest House had a room available at a good price, and the owner was very friendly. The room came with air conditioning, a TV, an en suite bathroom with a water heater, towels, mineral water, and a full dental kit.
