Oyo 1064 Manado Airport Residence

We booked a room, but when we arrived the owner said the hotel had been closed for a year. It doesn’t seem to exist. Either he or the platform hotelz scammed us, and we never got our money back.

With an early flight from Manado to Bali the next morning, I chose this place for one night because it’s near the airport. The price was affordable, and while the room was small, it was comfortable and clean. The hot water worked well too. The owner was very kind to me and to the other guests. I only had one suitcase and thought I might walk to the airport, about 10-15 minutes away, but luckily her son was leaving as the family also stays at the hotel, and she asked him to drop me off.

The only real positives were that it’s close to the airport and the hot water worked. After six months of backpacking, I’d say this place was barely passable: cheap, but a big letdown. The toilet seat was cracked and almost falling off. The bed felt like nothing but air and springs. The throw pillows were visibly filthy, though the other bedding seemed clean, and we didn’t leave with bed bugs. The staff seemed to be sitting in the dirty entryway playing on their phones in pajamas. Wi-Fi was poor. The trash can had no bag or inner container, so trash just dropped onto the floor, and the hallway chairs were broken.

There’s no breakfast, and both the room and bathroom are small, with the bed taking up most of the room. Still, this is the closest accommodation to Manado airport, less than a five-minute walk from the arrivals terminal. It’s just to the right of the airport gate, by the police office. The entrance is more like a little hallway, and a nice family welcomes you at check-in. I stayed here during a flight transit.
