Go Hotel Maumere

For the price, this is a clean, cozy hotel with good service and a lot of value. I’d choose a room facing the pool if you want to get to the water easily. Breakfast is good for the rate, though having someone cook eggs to order would be a nice extra. One small practical thing: it would help to have a drain behind the toilet as well as in the shower area, for excess water. Thanks for the hospitality during our stay.

Please take care of this place, owners. The staff seem poorly trained and are left to argue with guests instead of resolving problems. We found dead flies that looked as if they’d been on the floor for weeks, a rat inside, and food that tasted awful, including noodles served raw. The hygiene was poor and the attitude toward customers was terrible. This was the first time we’d had such bad customer service in Indonesia. I’m not exaggerating, and the employees shouldn’t take all the blame when they haven’t been trained.

We planned to spend one night here in Flores, but after dinner we decided to leave. The floor was covered with dead flies, and a rat came out of the kitchen. My fried noodles with vegetables arrived with sausage and were badly cooked and unpleasant. My wife’s kangkung and fish fillet weren’t much better. The waitress couldn’t speak English and got a colleague to help; he just said I’d ordered the dish and should set the sausage aside, and that nothing could be done. They still wanted us to pay for all the food, even though we could barely eat any of it.

The rooms are quite spacious, and the restaurant offers surprisingly decent food and drinks, around 7 out of 10 for me. Prices are reasonable and portions are adequate. GO Hotel was one of the newest hotels in 2019, and its location is a strong point: Roxy Supermarket, Pasar Tingkat traditional market, and plenty of small shops, cafes, and warungs are nearby.
