For the low rate, the room is fairly roomy and pleasant, even though it has no bathroom of its own. The shared bathroom is only kept up so-so, and breakfast isn't included. You can also hear the electricity token running low because the room doesn't block sound.

The friendly security team and staff, clean rooms and toilets, cold AC, and hot water available at any time made for a comfortable stay at Oyo Barat Residence. Parking is spacious and secure, and the place works as both a boarding house and a family hotel. It's close to USU and the Ring Road. Water often cuts out around dawn, though, and I hope they can fix that if they get the feedback. It could be a great budget pick for a visit to Medan.

The room kept shaking from the noisy electrical machines in other rooms, and the bathroom equipment was even louder. The window was broken and wouldn't shut. On top of that, the bathroom smelled like urine and the service felt unfriendly. Not once did anyone smile. Maybe that's just how customer service is handled here, but it felt very different from stays in other areas.
