Saka Hotel Medan

The lobby looks beautiful, but the rooms let it down. There was no tissue, kettle, or shower cap, and the linen was shabby. The bathroom layout is bad, the shower’s hot water didn’t work properly, and both the outdoor cafe and water-closet were dirty. The genset also didn’t work well during a power outage.

The location is strategic, which is the only reason I gave it two stars. The food wasn’t too bad, and you can ask for an omelette. Otherwise, it was a bad stay. The room was dusty and smelly, the towel was dirty, the lighting was poor, and there was no kettle or shampoo. A dispenser had some kind of soap, but I couldn’t tell if it was shampoo or body soap. There are no non-smoking rooms. The AC didn’t work properly, and I woke up drenched in sweat. Asking to move to an upgraded room didn’t help because they couldn’t confirm whether its AC worked either.

I told them I’d be checking out late, but reception kept calling to ask whether I wanted to extend. There’s no do not disturb sign, so staff can interrupt you. Basic supplies weren’t replenished either. When I checked in, there was no toilet paper and the soap dispenser was empty, and I had to ask them to refill it.

The location is near the city center, with places like adam malik hospital, auto2000, and Manhattan mall nearby. The hotel is easy to access by either of its two lifts, and the parking lot is roomy enough to maneuver around easily. The room was spacious and comfortable. Good stay.
