Swasana Hotel Medan

I checked out just 30 minutes after arriving and moved to another hotel. I lost all the money I’d paid because the booking wasn’t refunded. If you’re reading this, save yourself the time and money and make your trip easier by choosing a good hotel. The room didn’t look like the pictures at all. It was in bad shape, with a bed and LCD that made it feel like sleeping on a footpath. Near the bottom of the wall, it looked as if a sewer line ran behind it, and water was leaking from there. The room size and facilities seemed fair for the price, but the place felt cheap and dirty, like the management didn’t care about cleaning and just wanted to earn money using misleading room photos.

The one good thing for me was the location, less than a 10-minute walk from Medan Fair. I know it’s a cheap hotel, so I expected basic, but the bed sheet looked awful. When I asked about it, they said that was common after laundry. The floor had dust and hair, the AC barely worked, and the shower drain was so slow that water flooded the shower area. You get what you pay for.

There isn’t enough parking, and cars parked there, I think illegally, make it hard for people to get through the street. If you’re planning a business, you need to think about parking too.

Parking is the one drawback, since there’s very little space. Still, the place is worth a stay: it’s in a very central spot, rates are affordable, and finding food nearby is easy. My room was clean, the service was polite, and the room boy was friendly and helpful. Thanks.
