Segara Lombok

We were sorry we hadn’t booked a room here as well as our meals. The hotel was more affordable, more private, and much better located than Amber, where we were staying in the nearby valley. Segara Lombok has only around 7-10 rooms, mostly for small families and couples, so it feels calm, intimate, and personal. Next time, we’ll stay here for the whole trip. Most of our breakfasts and dinners were at Segara, and we also had an excellent meal there for lunch. The food is first rate, thoughtfully prepared, and very reasonably priced. It stands apart from typical local food, while living up to its quality and price. The staff were welcoming, attentive, articulate, and clearly cared about service. We appreciated the decaffeinated coffee too, which is one of the few options we found in Lombok. The hotel sits on a secluded beach with lovely sunset views, good for swimming, relaxing, and surfing. Excursions and taxis booked through Segara were well organized, transparent, and professional. They cost consistently 20-30% less than Amber, and taxis were roughly half the price. We also took a personal two-day guided trip arranged through the hotel to the Secret Gili islands and the northern rice fields. It was memorable and out of the ordinary. Credit to the owner for creating such a thoughtful, authentic place. They’re currently expanding with a new section that will have a spa, pool, and larger rooms. We didn’t notice any disruption during our visits. Segara Lombok sets a high bar for food, service, excursions, and accommodation.
