Puri Alam Bali

The Traditional Balinese massage was the best we've had by far, and the place itself was clean and nice. We booked an hour, and the treatment was amazing, the real highlight of our visit. Book ahead at reception. I'd recommend it to anyone visiting Munduk, especially as a perfect end to a looong day. 🙏

It's a peaceful place with an amazing view and a swimming pool. There are plenty of food options nearby, and the staff were helpful. There were lots of mosquitoes, though, and the room only had water provided once.

The balcony view was the one thing I liked, though it was much like views from other places around here. I wouldn't recommend staying here. Our reservation listed a minibar, TV, Wi-Fi, and towels, but those weren't provided, and nobody offered a solution. Lunch was the worst we had in Bali. I couldn't tell how old the food was, and it was dry and tough, with ants and mosquitoes around it. The towels smelled, the sheets were still wet, a bedside table light didn't work, and the bathroom had a strange layout and smell. Wi-Fi was very poor, just 0-4mb speed. The photo I uploaded doesn't show all the ants and mosquitoes I found on that plate. Sadly, I couldn't take more pictures of all the plates.

Some of the rooms aren't up to the same standard, so check beforehand. Rooms 2 and 4 were classy, though. The hotel's position on a ridge just above 'central Munduk', which is really just a row of shops, gives it gorgeous views across the valley to the sacred peak of Gunung Batukau. Its fading grandeur adds to the charm. You can pay by credit card, which is handy since Munduk has no ATM or bureau de change. The pool is a little old, and breakfast isn't inspiring, but the prices and vibe feel right.
