The restaurant food was great, though staff served us dirty cups. The rest of the stay was a struggle with housekeeping and maintenance. When I turned on the faucet, the bathroom partly flooded because the drain was blocked with hair and debris. I tried calling reception several times, but nobody answered, so I walked over to report it. The engineering team eventually came and cleared the drain. There was knocking from around 7:30 PM until midnight, which made it hard to sleep. Basic supplies were also inconsistent. Toilet paper ran out, and I had none for about six hours. After another unanswered call, I went to reception around 5:30-6:00 AM to ask for more. Towels and bath mats were taken without replacements, so I had to request them. The bath mat they gave me was frayed along the edges and clearly worn. It seemed like rooms weren’t being properly checked after cleaning. Better room inspections, dependable front desk response, and regular restocking of bathroom essentials would make a big difference. These problems affected my comfort and rest, and weren’t what I expected from an expensive four star hotel.

The hotel has a lush, green feel and a natural, woody kind of luxury. Service was good and pretty standard for the rate, and I thought the rooms were about what you’d expect for the price. Breakfast, though, was horrible in my opinion and needs a lot of work. The drinks were the bright spot, including wedang jahe (hot ginger), other wedang2an, some jamu2an (herbal drinks), and fairly fresh, sweet fruit. The other food choices were just meh. At 2mill idr ++ a night, or 3 mill idr for the family suite I paid for, you can get much better breakfast options at another hotel.

Being close to Mount Bromo is the one real advantage. The drive up in the morning takes only half an hour. Even so, I wouldn’t recommend this resort. It doesn’t live up to its four star claims, and the room was okay but hardly luxurious or worth the price. There were only two plug points, and they weren’t easy to reach. Some parts of the hotel even looked abandoned.

The plants and grounds are gorgeous, and the place would have been perfect for a relaxing stay near Bromo. But a wedding function hall across the road blasted live music with a booming bass until late at night for days. Horeg? Our stay was ruined.

For our honeymoon, they had a personalised welcome message, a setup, and a cake, which made for a memorable arrival. The resort is lovely and well placed for an early morning trip to Bromo to see the sunrise. We enjoyed both dinner and breakfast at the restaurant.
