Joglo Kecombrang Bromo

The hotel’s exterior is very pretty, and there aren’t many places to stay around Bromo. Still, I wouldn’t recommend it. We spent one night there before visiting Mt Bromo, after our driver brought us in. The first room had one massive cockroach that we could see. Staff were very friendly and moved us to a better room, but the sheets had lots of stains and the place didn’t feel clean overall.

The room and bedsheets were in very bad condition and smelled bad. The hotel is in the middle of nowhere, about an hour before you reach the Bromo King Kong Mountain sunrise spot.

The food was delicious, and my room felt cosy despite the dim lighting. I only stayed one night and enjoyed it. The location is convenient for seeing the Mount Bromo sunrise, though traffic can get quite busy there. If you’re a light sleeper, that may be disturbing, but it didn’t bother me. I loved the cool weather, and the rooms don’t have air conditioning.

Breakfast was good, with Indonesian food, and the traditional design made a nice first impression. The room was a big disappointment, though. The lights were very dim, making it feel gloomy and old, and the floor and furniture were dusty. The bedsheet had a stain. The bathroom was worst of all, with a low ceiling and very little light. There was no toilet paper, only tissues, so we had to ask reception for rolls. Without a shower curtain, the floor and toilet bowl got wet after every bath. We also had to request a hair dryer from the front desk. The owner should brighten the room lighting and urgently refurbish the bathrooms.
