Jungle Paradise

The room was comfortable and the surroundings were quiet. I especially liked the outdoor bathroom and its huge bathtub. It is far from restaurants and shops, though renting a motorbike is always an option.

We found it easy to explore the island because you could arrange boat tickets, transfers, and a scooter through the property. The setting is tucked away in a rural, jungle-like area, away from the busy main street, but still close enough to beaches and shops if you can ride a scooter. It felt like a little paradise, and the island has so much to see that one or two days really isn’t enough. Our toddler was welcomed warmly by the staff, even though the place doesn’t officially offer accommodation for children. We had a great time last September. The food and service were lovely every day, and when we wanted to order in, they had good suggestions and helped arrange it. I’d happily recommend staying here and hope we’ll meet again. The road can be confusing: they said they’re having trouble updating their Google location. If you book through Airbnb, use the Airbnb coordinates, not the outdated Google Maps pin marked “JUNGLE PARADISE.” We ended up adding a few days to our stay. The beds were comfortable and the showers had hot water and good pressure. I only wish the AC were stronger, since afternoons got warm, though mornings were breezy. Breakfast can’t be served before 7 at the moment, which was tricky for divers with a 7:30 call time. The food was great, though, with a big menu for a place that currently serves only staying guests. I loved the nasi goreng, fusilli balinese chicken pasta, and morning French press Balinese coffee. I brushed my teeth with the tap water one night and didn’t get sick. Jhon gave us a zen welcome that turned into about an hour of healthy drinks and conversation. We’d arrived in Bali unprepared, and his advice saved us time, especially his suggestion of purple dive penida. He likes extreme activities, is a dive master, and also trains muay thai and cross fit. We rented an nmax motorcycle from Jungle Paradise, and he helped us get to the dive shop to arrange dives and to the market for wall plug adapters. Another guest said Jhon guided them snorkeling to see manta rays. As an experienced local diver, he may improve your chances. We saw about 30+ manta rays on one dive!

The pool and grounds were lovely, and the room had lots of storage and a really beautiful bathtub. We slept incredibly well, and didn’t see any scary animals. John and his wife were great and very helpful. I’d definitely recommend staying here to explore Nusa Penida.
