Mahendra Cottage

The view is stunning, and Diamond Beach and Arthur Beach are only about a 20-minute walk away. The food and service were both 11/10, and the host really cares about guests. These were some of the most amazing people I met in Indonesia. I’d highly recommend it if you’re after a beautiful, quiet oasis near the beach.

The hosts were the best part, kind, friendly, attentive, and ready to organize whatever you need. The food was really good too. I loved the Balinese style of the property, with ocean views and lush banana and palm trees all around. It’s a beautiful hidden gem, quiet and remote, just what I wanted. You can walk to restaurants, cafes, and Diamond Beach in about 20 minutes, though the roads are bumpy. Thank you so much, it was just awesome ❤️

At Mahendra Cottage, I spent five peaceful days away from the crowds in Nusa Penida. It’s surrounded by coconut trees, with lovely views of the mountains and ocean, and the sunrises were a spectacle every morning. The spacious rooms were comfortable, with air conditioning, hot showers, and a private terrace. After exploring the island, I loved cooling off in the infinity pool. I Komang and his partner made me feel at home from the start and clearly care about their guests. She can cook for you if you like, and I enjoyed her traditional English meals so much that I ate there almost every day. The setting feels authentic and natural, right in the middle of local village life, with chickens wandering around and friendly locals going about their day. I even spotted a monkey or two on the way to the cottage. It’s a quiet spot for disconnecting, and a great base for exploring southern Nusa Penida. You don’t just get a place to rest, you get to experience the island in a genuine way. I’ll definitely return. Highly recommended!

The sunrise view was lovely, the beds were comfortable, and the rooms were clean. We enjoyed the pool too. The road in is bumpy, but we got there just fine on scooters.
