Puri Penida

We really enjoyed our two nights and would recommend staying longer than a day trip if you want to get that remote island and jungle beach feeling. The cottages are in a village, and the beautiful pool was what won us over. They’re basic, two-star cottages, but clean, with very comfortable beds. Towels weren’t replaced daily even when we left them on the floor, as they were hung back on the rack. Since the cottages face west, they get quite hot in the afternoon. Closing the blinds helps, and I’d suggest management tint the triangular windows because of the heat and glare. The staff were attentive and would cook anything on the menu if it was available. Breakfast was nice, and the Balinese coffee was amazing. It’s a pleasant 10-15-minute walk to the beach, where there are some warungs. If you see an empty table with chairs and an umbrella, grab it, and the warung owners will come take your order. We were lucky to be there for the Melasti Ceremony before Nyepi, which felt quite surreal.

Breakfast was included, with a good selection: omelette or scrambled eggs, smoothie bowls, and pancakes. The bungalows had everything we needed, and the bed was very comfortable. This family-run place has a gorgeous new pool. Beautiful Crystal bay is 5-10 minutes away, where you can watch the sunset each evening. They also arrange west or east island tours and snorkeling trips at fair prices. We had a nice private driver too.

We spent a lot of time at Puri Garden Penida and really liked how peaceful it felt. The facilities are stunning, the pool is beautiful, and the garden makes a relaxing escape. The cozy restaurant serves fresh food made to order, and the staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay. I’d highly recommend it for a relaxing visit.

The peaceful setting and garden greenery are lovely, and the rooms are clean, spacious, and comfortable. The hotel is also out of the way from popular beaches, viewpoints, and cultural sites, so it isn’t convenient for exploring those attractions. We got our rooms late in the afternoon and had to wait because checkout is at 2 p.m. Service was slow, and the staff weren’t very friendly or ready to help with questions or needs. There was no water in the bathroom in the evening, and the hot water wasn’t really hot. The restaurant has a very limited choice at breakfast, lunch, and dinner, with a menu geared more toward non-vegetarian food. Despite the tranquil surroundings and attentive service mentioned in its appeal, Puri Garden Penida Hotel didn’t provide us with a comfortable stay on Nusa Penida Island.
