SemayaOne Beach Guest Hotel

The staff seemed nice, but they were rarely around, and when we did find them, they didn’t understand English or know how to help. The “boss” also refused to refund us. I wouldn’t stay here again even if I were paid. We were there in October 24, and the hotel seemed worn down after the season. Our room was dirty, the curtains were moldy, and after one night my eyes were itchy. Water damage meant the toilet door wouldn’t shut, so you had to use it with the door open. Cockroaches were crawling around too, since the outside door didn’t close all the way. It was one of the worst hotels I’ve stayed in as a backpacker.

The staff member was friendly, but when we checked out just five minutes after checking in, she looked shocked and didn’t apologize, even though the room’s condition was obvious. Our first room had a leaking toilet, so we asked to move. The replacement was worse: the bathroom door wouldn’t close properly, the shower barely worked, and the walls were chipped, dirty, and disgusting. Don’t stay here.

We booked for one night but left without staying or even unpacking. The pillowcase had yellow stains, the lighting was dim, and the wallpaper was peeling. It’s a cheap-travel kind of place. The location is central, though, and close to where the boats depart.

My complaint is with Traveloka for misrepresenting Semayaone Beach Hotel, not with the hotel staff. The staff were okay and friendly. Traveloka’s listing and photos gave me the impression of a wonderful property, but when I arrived, I found a run-down place with old towels, a stained and unclean-looking room, unmaintained gardens, and diving equipment left lying around. Hotel guests also had no privacy because fast-boat clients walked through the property and right past the rooms. After 15 minutes, I left and found a much nicer place for half the price. I wouldn’t call the facilities appealing to many people. I sent Traveloka current photos and asked for a refund for three nights, offering to give up the first night to cover any losses. The hotel had plenty of empty rooms. Traveloka asked me for photos, which I supplied, and I explained again how different the real conditions were from the listing. They contacted the owners, who refused the cancellation and refund. Traveloka said it couldn’t cancel unilaterally, then offered a coupon worth IDR 30,000. That was about AUD$3 when I was losing $300. After I said that was unacceptable, they raised the offer to AUD$5. Total insult. I’ll never use Traveloka again and don’t recommend them. Traveloka’s response listed order 870631414, check-in Nov 03, 2022, and said the cancellation request had been proposed to the hotel and rejected by Mr. Made Agung Kori (PIC Hotel). They asked me to confirm whether I’d accept the coupon. My complaint was about the misleading property listing and photos, and they didn’t resolve it.
