Sundi Ocean Bungalow by ABM

It’s outside the center of Nusa Penida, and everything seemed to be out of order. The American breakfast was just an egg, bread, jam, and butter. Murda was very helpful, though, and made the stay bearable.

SCAM!!! SCAM!!! SCAM!!! We arrived at Sundi Ocean Bungalow with our family, including young children, but were refused check-in even though rooms were empty. Nobody gave us a valid reason. When we questioned the front desk, the situation escalated, and some staff tried to attack us from behind in a threatening way. We managed to get away safely, but were left on the roadside. They offered another nearby property, which had no pool or restaurant and poor facilities. At Sundi’s reception, four men were hanging around, smoking constantly and making the place feel intimidating. Staff seemed unconcerned when we said we might call the police. At the alternative accommodation, we had to pick just one item from a limited breakfast menu. The food was bland and clearly brought in from an outside restaurant. Our room had visible spiderwebs, and the bathroom exhaust fan didn’t work. Nobody fixed it despite reminders over two days. Photos are attached for reference. I strongly advise families and solo travelers to avoid this property. From the moment we arrived, the experience felt threatening and unprofessional, with neither safety nor basic hospitality.

I couldn’t wait even an hour before booking somewhere else, though I’d reserved two nights. The road to this awful location is bad, and as soon as I entered the room I smelled damp. The shower head was broken, and within minutes the bathroom had flooded. The doors were also so difficult to close that it felt like a challenge. Don’t waste your money. This may have been my worst stay ever.

We booked four rooms at Villa Sundy expecting a pool and ocean views, but arrived to total confusion. The staff were disorganized and unhelpful, and couldn’t speak English. After 15 minutes, they called someone they said was the manager. He barely spoke English either and told us we’d be moved to alternative accommodation about three minutes away. That place was filthy, with insects everywhere, a foul smell, and a view of nothing but walls. The so-called pool looked like a swamp, full of debris, and the water smelled like a public toilet. There was no compensation, just arrogance and indifference. After reading more reviews, it seems this may be a regular scam: guests are drawn in by pretty photos, then sent to awful substitute rooms. Completely unacceptable and dirty, with staff who seem incompetent and uncaring. Stay away, it’s a rip-off.
