Ocean Beach Hotel Padang

The sea-view room was spacious, with a great view, and the hotel is in a convenient location. Unfortunately, the staff weren’t professional or friendly when helping guests. I hope their service improves.

The staff were friendly, and the location is convenient near the beach for walking or jogging. The room was just okay, though: there was a lot of hair in it, and the bedcovers and pillows were quite dirty. The toilet was small and wasn’t very clean when I checked in. There was construction or maintenance next to my room, so it was pretty noisy. I broke a cup and was charged IDR 100K. I guess the cup costs less, probably under IDR50K.

We felt very well looked after here, and I’d definitely stay again on my next visit to West Sumatera. The hotel was very clean and had a great sea view. The staff were kind, helpful, and friendly, always greeting us with warm smiles. Mr Rozi at the front desk gave us especially nice reception and hospitality. I loved the service and facilities.

The view from the Ocean Lounge, if I remember the name right, was exceptional. You can sit there for hours enjoying the sea view and sound, and there’s also a small swimming pool. Breakfast was OK. I stayed one night in early July 2022, though I’d hoped to stay at least two. The hotel was fully booked. Its position right in front of Padang beach is hard to beat, and the room rate was lower than other hotels in a similar spot. The lobby was spacious and looked like a proper four-star hotel. The receptionists were kind, though they chatted casually with each other while serving guests. I booked the cheapest room, about IDR 650k before the special discount, with no view and breakfast included. It was more spacious than I expected, felt luxurious, and was bright, which I prefer to the dim lighting in many hotel rooms. The bathroom looked nice and was clean, but a smell came and went during my stay, like someone hadn’t flushed after urinating. The bed and linen felt comfortable and I fell asleep quickly, but unfortunately I spotted a few stains on the linen.
