The resort area was clean and pleasant, and the whole OK Divers resort felt modern and very nice. There’s a wide choice of Indonesian and Czech dishes, plus draught Bintang beer, which some visitors may appreciate. I don’t dive, so I booked a snorkeling day, and it changed how I see snorkeling a little. Our lovely assistant coordinated and supervised us, which made me feel safe. Thanks to her, I saw an incredible number of reefs, corals, and fish a manta fish.

I came with my family and felt very welcome. My grandchildren loved it too. The diving was handled very professionally, with a friendly, welcoming team that helped us feel safe and relaxed. The food was fresh and tasty, and a wonderful surprise between dives. Great people and atmosphere. Highly recommended!

I was on a short Bali stopover and spent two nights here, with two days of diving. I’d been with them before to explore Penida and Crystal Bay, but this time asked for macro diving, and Padangbai was amazing for it. The local sites are only 3-5min from the dive centre, and you’re back washing your gear by 12:30pm. Meeting at 8:30 makes for a relaxed start, and porters take your equipment to and from the boat. Between dives there’s water, tea, fruit and cake, and the price includes a diver’s lunch afterward. They cater well for vegetarians. The shaded boats have dry areas for personal belongings. I brought my own equipment; the rental gear I saw looked in good condition. Made deserves a special mention. He gave a thorough briefing at the dive centre and before each dive. I enjoyed talking over lunch about what we’d seen. He was very patient with my slow pace and camera, and excellent at spotting macro creatures. The hotel rooms are simple, well appointed and clean. It’s a really well organised, friendly and clean operation.

A good base for a diving trip, with trips and courses arranged directly through the hotel. There’s a deep pool for setting up dive gear, plus another pool overlooked by the rooms, with loungers for relaxing. The large breakfast, dining and lounge area has tables and sofas for hanging out beside the bar, where staff are always around to pour draft beer. Blue Lagoon beach is a short walk for snorkeling, and a few restaurants and bars are close by if you don’t want to eat at the hotel. Breakfast is basic but perfectly fine. Each room also has a table and chairs or a sofa outside, facing the pool.

We saw a lot on the dives: seven turtles, a white-tip reef shark (I missed the black-tip, still processing that), blue-spotted stingrays, three mantis shrimps, a leaf scorpionfish, a frogfish, four pygmy seahorses and an orangutan crab. Visibility was around 10m, but Patu had a brilliant eye for spotting marine life. We went out on a traditional wooden boat. Between dives we had banana bread, watermelon and pineapple, which tasted elite after two dives and only coffee for breakfast. We reached shore around 2pm, right across from OK Divers, and the guides joined us for lunch. The “soup” was really a comforting ramen situation. Very post-dive Bali. The day started with optimism, caffeine and a vague plan, then became a highlight. Ria calmly sorted everything out after I booked the day before, in off-peak January. I was indecisive and stressed, and she stayed patient and professional. I’d contacted two other operators, but neither had a DSD instructor, so my friend would have snorkelled at Nusa Penida while I scuba’d. I wanted my friend to try a DSD, and managing split plans involving islands as backups was more than my brain could handle. Padang Bai made sense. We were already halfway to becoming one with the road on our scooter, Cody, who did great. We left Uluwatu at 6am and arrived at OK Divers at 8:50am, thanks to the only coffee shop open then. We were a bit late and dusty, but emotionally intact. Made took my friend through his DSD patiently and confidently, while Patu led my fun dives. There’s a training room beside the pool where you can watch the DSD skills, with great lighting and a perfect spot for a celebratory selfie after your buddy recovers from breathing underwater. My GoPro managed one very average beginner clip, then wouldn’t turn on again. So I can’t prove any of this. Sometimes the best moments happen when you’re not filming. I’ve saved them in my memory, already crowded with Anchorman quotes and very little practical information. There’s a spa too. Renata does Balinese massage. Treat yo’self. It was so good I forgot my room number afterward. The pool is ideal for staring into the distance and rethinking life choices, if that’s your thing. My room was incredible: clean and spacious, with powerful A/C, a massive bed, excellent shower pressure and a secure bathroom door. I only stayed one night because of real life and work commitments, not because I didn’t want to stay longer. They keep insisting on funding future trips instead of letting me disappear indefinitely. Next time I should book a night dive, though attentive bar staff and margaritas charged to the room might require stronger willpower. OK Divers is a place where logistics, people and vibes quietly line up. Five stars. Would dive again, stay longer, and hopefully bring evidence.
