Zen Inn

The staff were friendly, and the bed was comfortable with very good water pressure and both hot and cold water. There were plenty of electrical outlets and enough trash bins, though there’s no fridge or Smart TV. The bathroom lighting was satisfactory, but there was no room by the sink for toiletries. I stayed two nights at Zen Inn while heading to and from Lombok. It’s right by the ferry port, so it’s a handy place for basic lodging, and I’d stay again. Check-in at 2 pm and checkout at 12:00 both went smoothly.

We stopped at Zen for lunch while waiting for our taxi. The food was good quality and great value, and the restaurant was really clean. Staff were very friendly and helpful. It’s right beside the large ferry port and close to everything else in town, which makes it convenient and good value. The street is busy, though, so staying there would probably be noisy.

We couldn’t get a response from them with just one day left before our departure, so we arranged our own taxi after their communication about booking through their taxi service was very slow and unclear. They only allow late check-in if you use the taxi they offer. When we arrived, they refused to let us check in, leaving us to find another hotel, and we couldn’t get a refund. Very irresponsible. The worst experience ever.

The service was the only good part. We were the only customers, yet waited more than 30 minutes. Breakfast was the worst we had in Bali: two slices of bread with fried eggs that weren’t even well done, and two slices with scrambled eggs. Overpriced and bad quality.
