For under 200k, I got a pretty good, comfortable room that was easy to reach and close to downtown. The four stars are for the price and what came with it, not for luxury.

I was in Palangka Raya for a bit of business I expected to finish quickly, so I looked for a budget hotel or guesthouse with standard services. I’d gone there after hearing the city was once touted as a possible replacement for Jakarta as Indonesia’s capital. After searching on tra*****a, I found Wisma Anggrek. It’s generally in the city center, though not directly on the main road. You walk more than 50 meters from there to reach it. The place feels like an ordinary residence with several rooms, and the accommodation, rooms, and food are much like what you’d find in a residential area. It suits backpackers or travelers who aren’t looking for luxury. Service was fairly quick and hassle-free. Worth the price, you get what you pay for.

Restaurants and cafes are close by, and the residential area feels safe. The place is clean and the service is friendly. Hopefully it can be a resting option that works for different budgets...🙏

I was there on March 27, 2016, and found the place clean and comfortable. The staff felt more like friends. I wonder how Rahmat is doing now.
