Azza Hotel Palembang

The restaurant waiters were quick to clear dirty dishes, and the location is handy, close to the LRT. Service was okay. We had to call an engineer because the aircon wasn’t really cool at first, but it got cool afterward. Sunny-side-up or scrambled eggs weren’t part of the breakfast buffet, so we had to order them separately. Only one elevator was available.

The main downside is the poor sound insulation. You can hear footsteps outside. Access gets 4/5: it’s across from Palembang Icon, but you have to cross the bridge over a smelly river. The room and bathroom, along with the furniture, were well maintained, so cleanliness is 4/5. The restaurant had a good range of dishes for the price, also 4/5. My superior room gets 4/5 too. I didn’t expect a refrigerator at this price, which was nice, and there’s a water heater for tea and coffee. It’d be 5/5 if there were a safe deposit box.

The bedroom is large, but the amenities, especially in the bathroom, need improvement. There’s only one lift, which is a drawback. It’s a busy hotel, yet service is still fairly efficient and the reception staff are friendly. The big advantage is being about 150M from the new Bumi Sriwijaya LRT station. I managed to catch the LRT straight to the airport as early as 5.40am 😊

Hotels in Palembang cost more than hotels in Jakarta. If you’re after a modern, excellent hotel, expect to spend twice as much.
