Saulina Resort

The view right by Lake Toba made our stay on Samosir Island special. We stayed at the Bugdet hotel, and it felt like a great choice.

The karaoke singing nearby made it a little noisy, though the voices were nice, so it wasn't a problem. It was my first stay here and my first impression was good. I hope to come back for more stays on a future trip to Samosir.

The view is beautiful, but this felt more like a homestay than a resort, and for 550idr we expected more. There were ants and cockroaches, wasps on the balcony, a leaking sink, and extra pillows with uncomfortable, sofa-like filling. Karaoke nearby was very noisy at night, and workers were noisy in the morning. The kettle socket was broken too, among other issues.

The entrance was a little hard to find. Once there, the inn was fairly comfortable and clean, with a nice view, and it wasn't too expensive. The room, receptionist, and restaurant are in separate buildings, and the distance between them is too far. I really liked the fried rice, though. It was delicious and had its own character, so you have to try it. Photos will be uploaded soon.
