The bathroom was the worst part of the stay. It wasn't maintained well, with a loose bidet and an old, worn toilet seat. The room itself felt small for two people, and there was no air conditioning, though you could ask for a standing fan. Breakfast was disappointing too, with no buffet, only à la carte. The hotel faces Danau Toba, so the view is beautiful, but the interior could use more lighting. Nearby church sermons were loud and irritating early in the morning.

We stayed in a spacious family room that was clean and a good deal for four or more people. The hotel also has boat trips around the lake. I visited during a trip to Medan, and the pretty views made it a nice place for a family vacation.

The rooms have terraces and an old-school 80s Adria charm, but the price is far too high for what you get. Hot water only comes on after 18:00, the WiFi was hard to connect to, and the bathrooms and locks were mediocre. There isn't a safe deposit box either. The hotel is next to a mosque, whose loud call woke me at 5:30 even though I'm used to them. There was no sunrise to see and breakfast wasn't available yet. At six, loud kitsch music started from another nearby speaker, and there was no coffee in the room to help with the early wake-up.

The friendly service, lovely pool area, attractive decor, and amazing breakfast were the highlights. The shower had both hot and cold running water. The hotel is a small, quaint place in Parapata by Lake Toba, with Batik and Balinese-inspired decor. The rooms are basic, though, and there was no tea, coffee, fridge, or microwave. There was no air conditioning, just a fan they provided.

The noise made it impossible to sleep. Karaoke blasted late into the night, then a church speaker played music at an ear-splitting volume from 5 to 6 in the morning. The service was terrible too: there was no hot water, and although staff insisted it had been turned on, nobody came to the room to check how cold it still was. Nothing was fixed. If you're visiting Parapat, I'd suggest staying somewhere else and saving your money.
