Batu Kandik Homestay Uluwatu

The location is good, but it wasn’t worth staying here for me. The photos gave a misleading impression, and when I arrived there were piles of garbage on the property. The hosts were unfriendly and rude. My bedroom had no window, which made me feel unsafe, and the sheets and towels looked dirty. I trusted my instincts and left after an hour. There are plenty of better places to stay.

We got in late after more than 25 hours of travel, and the owners had no problem with that. A hot shower, clean sheets, and a warm welcome were exactly what we needed. Batu Kandik Homestay has a nice planted area and a pool, plus a little shop for snacks. Small grocery stores and good restaurants are within walking distance, and it’s close to the temple. The staff answered all our questions and helped us get tickets for the fire dance show. We were in a bit of a rush to see the temple beforehand, so they even took us there. They went far beyond what we expected for their guests. Highly recommended.

Batu Kandik Homestay is in a quiet area, with the surrounding beaches nearby and Uluwatu temple within walking distance. The rooms are basic, but clean and comfortable, with hot water in the shower and good AC. The pool is small, though handy when you need to cool off. You can rent motorbikes at the hotel, and there’s a small convenience store too. The staff were lovely, helpful, and reliable. They treated me like family. I’d stay here again if I return to the area, and would recommend it to others.

We lay down for only 15 minutes before deciding to leave. The place was so dirty I can hardly describe it, and it felt like a soulless prison cell. There are no windows in either the bedroom or bathroom. The bathroom is just a corner separated from the bedroom by a curtain, not a separate room at all. We packed up, booked another hotel, and moved out immediately. There was an argument because the owner wouldn’t accept the cancellation, saying we had already checked in and used the bed. Fortunately, we could still cancel through Booking until 6 p.m. Don’t be fooled by the pictures, and don’t go there.
