The Manik Toya Boutique Villa

What you get here makes sense for the price, as long as you know what you’re booking. It’s more like a Balinese guesthouse or hostel than a standard international hotel, and that’s part of its charm. The location is unbeatable, right in the middle of everything. It can be noisy outside, and the rooms and bathrooms are basic, but they’re clean and perfectly fine for the price. The staff are what make the stay great, genuinely friendly, helpful, and always welcoming. If you expect a chain hotel, you might not get the vibe. But for a lively, local, authentic stay that’s good value, I give it 5 stars.

The rooms and location were good, but I won’t stay at the Manik Toya again. I wish I’d read the reviews before booking. We stayed 3 nights expecting a great hotel for what we paid, but a club directly opposite played EXTREMELY loud music until late. It felt like we were in the nightclub. The website mentioned massages, but nobody offered or promoted them during our stay. The front office guy quoted us a scooter rental price much higher than other places. It also didn’t feel sustainable. They gave us two small 330cc bottles every day, which creates rubbish, instead of offering somewhere to refill a bottle. A filling station would surely be cheaper for them too.

The location is near singlefin, and the rooms themselves were solid. But there was some mold in the bathroom, and the towels were always dirty. It was very noisy at night because the bar opposite turns into a disco. If you want quiet and restful sleep, you should definitely book somewhere else.

The location was great, and the room was okay, a bit rustic but with a clean bed and bathroom. It needed some work, though I can’t complain. I stayed before the new bar opened and slept fine. The TV worked, so I watched a couple of movies that were on. I heard scooters could be hired, but I didn’t rent one.
