Hobbit's House Homestay

We spent two weeks here in September 2023, my girlfriend and I. It's a quiet, really unique place with a feel like the old Bali of the 70s. The people are great. We went snorkeling at Menjangan island and visited the Natural Park. That's the only place where you can find the black long tail monkey. We also saw the barking deer, which is very unique and rare to see in nature. Manager Mr. Gede arranged for us to attend a truly village Kris ceremony. Don't be scared if you hear loudspeakers at 4 am, ahahah. If you're looking for a quiet place with great, truly Balinese people, this is the place. Thanks to Mr. Gede, our Manager, patient Komang and our driver Radi. You're a gentleman and a really good person. You felt like family to us.

My brother and I loved the atmosphere. The staff were friendly, and it's a cool place. Unfortunately, the roof leaked and our bed got wet. They did offer us a different room for our last night. The food is good too, but be prepared to wait quite a while.

Don't come here in low season. Reviews on different sites praise the attentive, English-speaking staff, but they're all replaced by very young trainees. They barely speak English, don't maintain the place at all, and seem to run around like headless chickens. We booked the bamboo house suite, Aragorn. The TV was broken, there was dust, animal droppings and stains everywhere, the water flow was low, the drain was slow, and the bathroom door and lock were broken. After one night we were moved to Frodo, a cute room, but it was dusty and dirty too, with a broken safe, no hot water and a slow drain. And the food, oh my god. We had to eat there twice because we had no car. Both times it was cold and barely edible, and it looked very clearly like it had been brought in from a nearby warung. Their kitchen was closed. We saw a guy come in with plastic bags that smelled like our food just before our meals arrived. Unbelievable.

The little hobbit house was adorable, and we had a great stay. The service was amazing too.
