The owner and staff did try to help when I contacted them, lending me an ember and gayung as a temporary fix for the toilet flush and cleaning the trash under the bed. I appreciate that effort, though those problems came up during my stay of about four days. The place is simple and cheap, and it’s close to Pusat Grosir Setono, Alun-alun Pekalongan, Plaza Pekalongan, Pekalongan Square, Museum Batik, Gereja Santo Petrus, Klenteng Po Anh Tian, and other recreation spots. Finding food nearby is easy. I first heard about it through PegiPegi. I think the issues may be because the owner is getting older and their son is now looking after the place with some cleaning staff. I’d recommend staying here, but if anything goes wrong, contact the owner and wait for their response.

The place was filthy and overpriced. There were lots of mosquitoes, and only one stained towel and one small blanket for two people. They kept the mattresses wrapped in plastic, so with that plastic under the sheets it got very hot when I tried to sleep. They also kept my passport.

They kept my passport for the whole stay, as if a copy or photo wouldn’t have been enough. The bedding stank, there were rats burrowing and cockroaches in the bathroom, and the small windows had mosquito netting that let the air cooled by the AC escape. Before midnight and again at 4 am, the call to Islamic prayer was so loud it woke me up, so no alarm clock was needed. Stay away, even if it’s free!

Only useful when every hotel in Pekalongan is fully booked. Bring your own sheet and mosquito repellent lotion.

As a foreigner, I was charged extra right away, so I don’t trust this place. It was disgusting.
