Grand Elite Hotel

I'm still staying here as I write this, and regret booking two nights. I paid for a nonsmoking room with the twin beds merged, but they just put the beds side by side. The middle table was in a strange spot, and the lighting is very dim. The air conditioning isn't working properly. An engineer came, pressed a button, and said it would cool down soon, but it's still unbearably hot. I also couldn't get the Wi-Fi to connect. For what I paid, plenty of budget hotels offer better amenities and service. I haven't tried the gym or breakfast yet, so I may update this. Grand Elite Hotel Management, please fix the Wi-Fi. My work is postponed because the connection is so poor.

I was here for an event in the hotel hall, so I can't comment on the rooms since I didn't stay overnight. The staff were fairly friendly to us during the training event, and the hall was cold. Snacks and lunch were good. The projectors had problems several times, though, which delayed the event. Parking was spacious, and the toilets and mushola were clean.

It's easy to get to food spots and nice dinner places from this location. The hotel is old but maintained, and the room was big, though very old. Not all the staff were friendly, and the breakfast was standard. As a nonsmoker, I couldn't stand the smoke inside the hotel. People were smoking even during breakfast and in the lobby, with the air conditioning circulating all that smoke. The shampoo was almost gone and they never refilled or replaced it. Also, watch out for the cabinet table, it could easily fall on your foot. This was my first and last stay.

At night, you can hear music from the bar downstairs, so keep that in mind when choosing the hotel. Otherwise, it's a great place to stay, with a roomy building and a lively spot in the Riau Business Center of Pekanbaru, near places to visit. We enjoyed free access to the sauna, steam room, and hot and cold pools.
