Hotel Menara Bahtera

The room was cozy and quiet, but the Wi-Fi speed was awful. The air conditioning was okay, though a little noisy. Breakfast was simple, so don’t expect too much. There were only four restaurant staff, and they did the best they could. There was no pastry. Dessert was fruit salad and sliced watermelon. Drinks included coffee, tea with no low-calorie sugar, lemon water, and a green juice I couldn’t identify. They had plain bread with a toaster, peanut, chocolate, and pineapple jam, but no sliced cheese. The main dishes were tumis kacang panjang, white rice, fried rice, opor ayam, bihun goreng, telur bacem, chicken porridge, soto ayam, and an omelette booth. I’m not sure what the standard is for a four-star hotel, but the breakfast at the no-star d'prima was almost the same. D'prima also served pastries and pudding for dessert.

The breakfast was seriously below a four-star hotel standard. Still, the location was the best, the pool and gym were great, and the room felt cozy and spacious, with a great view and a stable water heater. The air conditioning was a little noisy, though when I was tired enough it didn’t bother me. The staff were friendly. I wasn’t happy with my room, so they upgraded me to a better room of the same type without charging extra. I’m really thankful for that.

Unpopular opinion: I was initially going to give this hotel one star, but the service changed my mind. After a morning swim, I returned to find the room tidied, all the towels replaced, and the amenities renewed. This happened just a few hours before checkout, which was a real plus. That’s my personal experience, anyway, and I don’t know how it was for other guests. The room had yellow lighting that felt dark and was done badly. The hotel seems old and poorly maintained. The bathroom tiles sloped the wrong way, so water didn’t run toward the drain, and the bed wasn’t as tidy as it should have been. The AC was great. Breakfast was okay, with limited variety. Credit card payment was accepted for purchases of at least 100K rupiab. Getting there by car seemed ordinary enough, but on a motorcycle the parking was on the second floor. That shouldn’t have been a problem if there were access to the hotel from that floor, but the access that used to be there is now locked. Reception and the lobby seemed fine, check-in and checkout were smooth, and no deposit was needed. Given those problems, I’d expected to give it one star. The unexpected service made me rate it four.

This hotel is very old. The bad smell and old furniture hit you in the hallway and continue into the room, which was very stuffy and made me dizzy. The amenities were very basic for a four-star place: just body towels, a floor mat, shampoo and conditioner, and a toothbrush and toothpaste. The cable TV was awful, with no HBO, only a few sports channels, a kids channel, and local TV. None of the channels had a clear picture. The restaurant was worse, with a very basic, tasteless menu and not much choice. I was so disappointed I forgot to take even one picture. I paid 625k for all this, and it wasn’t worth it at all. You can get much better quality elsewhere for that price. This hotel is far below fave hotel or amaris hotel, even though they’re only three stars. Don’t go here. You deserve better for that money.
