The Premiere Pekanbaru

I’ve called reception three times now about the fridge not working. I also left a note for housekeeping, but when I got back from my morning meeting, nothing had been done. Could the language barrier be why they thought I meant the air conditioner? If the staff who saw my note didn’t understand my English, they could have passed it along to a colleague who did. How long should it take to get a technician to fix something this simple? I’ve had to repeat myself and raise my voice over the phone, which is exhausting. I’m not complaining for the sake of it. We’re paying a lot by local standards, and if a basic request can’t be handled, I wonder how the hotel expects to grow in such a competitive market, with so many hotels opening as overseas business visitors arrive. I don’t think this should cost the hotel much. Let’s see how long it takes them to respond.

By the last morning, the shower’s warm water had stopped working. That came after the shower, bathtub, and sink had all failed on the third day, with the water looking yellow-brown, like it had corrosion in it. The operator’s response was just to flush the water. On my first day at Premier Hotel Pekanbaru, I was given a top-floor room that felt like a sauna. The central air conditioning didn’t work, even when set to 17 degrees, and it was about 38 degrees outside in Pekanbaru. I called the operator to get it fixed, then moved to another room. And then the water problems. Seriously, what a stay 😄

Breakfast was tasty, fresh, and nicely presented, even if the selection was fairly average. The dining area and the rest of the facilities were well kept, too. My room was spacious, clean, comfortable, and newly renovated, with a fresh, modern feel. The location was convenient for everything I needed. I had one small issue, but the staff responded professionally and found a satisfactory solution quickly. They were friendly, attentive, and efficient throughout. I’d consider coming back and would recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable hotel with good service.
