The hotel’s approach to tips felt thoughtful and fair. It clearly says tipping isn’t expected, and guests who want to recognize great service can leave a tip in the front desk box, which is shared among all the staff. Our room was comfortable and well equipped, and I especially appreciated the convenient in-room water dispenser. The weather wasn’t ideal during our stay, but the seaside views were still stunning. The staff were incredibly friendly, always smiling, checking in proactively, and helping us arrange activities and plans.

Traveling with our 10-month-old son, we were grateful for how accommodating and friendly everyone was. The staff made us feel welcome from arrival and kept that warm hospitality up throughout our stay. The villa was spacious, comfortable, and well appointed, and the food was consistently excellent with lots of variety. Kelapa Retreat & Spa is beautifully maintained in a peaceful, secluded spot right on the beach. The surroundings, attentive service, and relaxing atmosphere made this one of our favourite stays in Bali. We’d happily return and recommend it to anyone wanting a quiet beachfront escape.

The staff’s kindness made a lasting impression. They kept surprising us with small, thoughtful gestures and made us feel genuinely welcome. The whole property felt warm, personal, and sincere. We also had a massage at the beachside spa, one of the highlights of our stay. Listening to the waves while looking out at the ocean during the treatment was incredibly relaxing. After an active honeymoon around Indonesia, we wanted our last few days in Bali to be calm, romantic, and close to nature. This hotel was exactly right. The peaceful surroundings made it easy to unwind: we fell asleep to the ocean, woke to palm trees and sea views, and spent slow mornings in our private pool villa. It was beautiful and thoughtfully designed, with cozy details, an outdoor bathroom, a comfortable bed, and an amazing ocean view. We spent afternoons at the beach, rode scooters along the coast around sunset, and went bodyboarding right in front of the hotel. Surfers have one of Bali’s best spots a short drive away. We also made a spontaneous visit to the nearby turtle sanctuary, helped with newly hatched turtles, then watched them make their way into the sea. The breakfast buffet and restaurant food were fantastic and high quality. The hotel arranged our airport transfer. It’s a bit of a drive, but absolutely worth it.

The gym situation was one small drawback: there isn’t a proper one on site yet, and the partner gym they currently use felt a bit run-down, with no A/C, water, or towels. The hotel is building its own gym. I also would’ve liked a better in-room coffee option than instant Nescafé. The airport is a long drive away, around three hours, though the hotel’s pickup service made the trip very comfortable. Everything else exceeded my expectations. Having the hotel, spa, and restaurant together on site made the trip easy and unforgettable. The property is tucked into a lush forest, secluded from the busier part of Bali, very quiet, and laid out to give you plenty of privacy. The shoreline is lovely for evening walks, and the rooms are spacious, comfortable, and cozy. Service was top-tier: staff responded within seconds when I needed them without ever being intrusive. I especially loved the daily turndown with flowers and my favorite sweets.
