Moon Bamboo

The owners were nice, but the staff were hopeless and extremely lazy. She didn’t bother replacing the water in the dispenser when it ran out, and barely cleaned the dining or kitchen areas, let alone the room. She could be nice to my face, but talked about me behind my back and harassed my dogs. I had to fix the big holes in the ceiling myself. When it rained, my room and bed got wet. Sometimes the electricity went out because the staff forgot to top up the token. I’ll never come back.

Ticks, mosquitoes, fleas, or lice seemed to be everywhere during the stay. There were holes in the ceiling, walls, and floor, and construction on both sides of the place made frightening noise in the morning. The pool wasn’t a place to sunbathe, and I couldn’t find a clean, fresh smelling bed. Touching the curtains meant breathing in dust, and using the kitchen felt like risking food poisoning. If you care about cleanliness and peace, don’t come here. Renting this hotel for a week was a big mistake, and so was trusting photos from 10 years ago. My mood, impression, and rest were completely spoiled.

For the price, I thought adding just 30k rupiah could get you a much better place elsewhere in Canggu. I paid 200k, which is cheap, but the room and toilet at Moon bamboo were far too dirty for me. The sheet had stains and little bugs, and I doubt it had been changed. The air conditioning didn't work. The toilet smelled, had stains, and water dripped from the ceiling; even the water flow was painfully slow. The pool was pretty green, and there was no staff around at night. I've stayed in much rougher places in Indonesia and India, and I'm not fussy about accommodation. I booked three nights, but after arriving from the airport at 11 pm, I stayed just that first night and left the next morning. Please save yourself the trouble and skip this place.

We left after one night, even though we'd booked seven. Our flight was delayed, and when we arrived late, only one of the two rooms we'd paid for was ready. I called and was told we could use another room. The room was clean, but the bathroom made us uncomfortable. It was screened with a curtain that didn't fully cover it, and the room was beside the street, so I worried people could peek in while we were bathing. Mosquitoes came through gaps in the bamboo walls and kept attacking us when we tried to sleep. We even had a little mouse visit. In the morning, construction noise from both the right and left sides was really annoying. We decided to find somewhere else to stay.
