Hotel Pison

The people running the place were kind, and breakfast downstairs at Kaana was great, though it wasn’t part of the hotel stay. Our three nights were split across two visits, and we probably wouldn’t have stayed otherwise since the hotel was included in our tour. The rooms felt worn and basic, the bathroom had seen better days, and the sheets were stained. At least there was hot water and a regular toilet.

The service was very friendly, and the room was basic with a comfortable mattress. Hot water came through the shower only as a trickle. It’s on a side street off the main road, though local guests were quite noisy over the weekend.

The owners made this an easy place to stay while backpacking. They were really nice and flexible, let us leave our bags while we went hiking, and washed clothes whenever we needed. Rooms were comfortable and clean, the toilets were European style, and the price was good for what you get. WiFi worked perfectly, and there’s direct access to the amazing Kaana restaurant upstairs.

The room was spacious and clean, with a comfortable double bed, a good hot shower, and even a private balcony. There’s a restaurant at the hotel for breakfast and dinner. I really enjoyed staying here. Peacocks may wake you at 6 a.m., but that felt fine since it’s a good time to get up and explore Toraja anyway.
